Please make note of the following additions to the seminar schedule. Most of the additions were made because these seminars have been very popular in the past week:
Saturday
•    “Sex and the Single Female,” with Jessica Schrock-Ringenberg, will be offered at 1:45 p.m. in E161-A&B
•    “When CNN calls and asks you why you are a Mennonite, will you be ready? – How to talk about religion and politics without making enemies,” with Keith Graber Miller and Richard Aguirre, will be offered at 1:45 p.m. in C115.
•    “How a prostitute can be more righteous than a patriarch: Understanding biblical stories in their context,” with Michelle Hershberger, will be offered at 3 p.m. in Grand Ballroom 3.

“Singing the Whole Jesus” late-night hymn sing

Come to a meeting hosted by Gene Stoltzfus and Peter Lumsdain to discuss forming a Mennonite network of concern about the increasing use of pilotless drones that have so far killed 700 Pakistani civilians. We will talk about the challenges for humanity and God’s creation posted by the rapidly approaching era of robotic warfare/society. Join us at 6:15 p.m. on Friday, July 3, in C-114.

MDS calls for volunteers to help build house

Mennonite Disaster Service still has plenty of spots open for volunteers to come and swing a hammer. The MDS house is being constructed behind the convention center. Please visit the MDS exhibit booth to sign-up. You are also welcome to come and see the progress of the build. Once the build is complete, MDS will conclude with a house dedication on Saturday at 11 a.m. Skilled or unskilled, all are welcome.

mPress failed to credit several reporters in the second issue printed on Thursday. Tyler Falk contributed to the article on the greening of the convention; Anna Groff to the article on youth evening worship; and Abri Houser to the article on adult morning worship. The photo of Shane Hipps was taken by Brandon Long. In the article on the landscape display, the Gingerich named was Ken, not Ron, and Mennonite Publishing Network was erroneously listed as a council.

mPress on Tuesday incorrectly listed registration figures for the Mennonite convention at Columbus. The convention office released these official figures on Wednesday afternoon: 2,326 adults; 4,197 youth and sponsors; 271 junior high youth and sponsors; 283 infants, preschoolers and children K-5; and 250 volunteers. The total registration is 7,327, not 7,819 as reported.

Mennonite Disaster Service is building a house this week in the dock area behind the Convention Center. Interested youth groups can sign up for a one-and-a-half hour block at the M.D.S. booth in the Exhibit Hall. The building will take place on Wednesday, Thursday and Friday.

Tuesday evening two books walked away from the Peace Tax Fund table in the adult worship area: “Register Citizen Opinions” and a new book about Marian Franz. Sorry, but they were marked “Display Only.” Please return the books to the Peace Tax Fund table.

Come to the Java City coffee bar area (located by the convention center’s information booth) on Thursday, July 2, at 7:45 a.m. Meet host Burton Buller and producer Melodie Davis. You’ll hear pilots, receive a sampler CD, pick up brochures and give feedback. If you can’t make it, stop by the cybercafe of Third Way Media in the exhibit hall.

War Tax Redirector’s Meeting

Anyone seeking alternatives to paying income taxes that support U.S. war making, refugee making and nuclear arms is welcome to a Friday, July 3, meeting in Room C-122 at noon. Those who direct part of their income tax to human needs or live below taxable level by various means including charitable giving can share their experiences with this kind of witness. Come with questions and ideas!
