Hoping for a News Partnership in Pittsburgh
As we gather here in Pittsburgh, we’re hoping that mPress will become one of the meaningful community spaces at the convention. To make that happen, we need your contributions. If you have an idea for an article or see a photo opportunity, please let us know. Though we don’t print letters in the limited space of our eight-page print edition, we welcome your comments online.
With this iteration of mPress, we’ve added several new features that are dependent on audience participation. One is a section for “This I Believe” essays. Here’s a chance for you to share a concrete belief or conviction in a short essay of 350 to 500 words.
Through the Frugal Diner column, we invite you to share tips on inexpensive but good places to eat in town. Columbus offered an unusually varied selection of foods, all conveniently housed under one roof nearby. Pittsburgh could be more of a challenge, especially since most everyone will arrive on the holiday. This column is one way we can make the most of what is available.
Modeled on the Metropolitan Diary in The New York Times, our Convention Diary aims to share memorable comments and stories and scenes throughout the week. We definitely need your help in recording those moments. At the top of the home page, you’ll see Photos from the Floor. This is intended as a “best of” gallery of photos, including contributions from cameras of all makes and levels of experience. If there’s a photo you’re proud of, we’d love to see it. And, as always, we hope you’ll send us clever entries for the Top 10 list.
Even as you make your way across many bridges this week, we also hope that you’ll take advantage of the many open doors, including the one to our newsroom. We would be delighted to say hello in person and show you around the office where we’re working (what we lack in commanding views we make up for with positive energy).

This looks like some good stuff Duane. One question though. How are things to be submitted? Could you add some info to the blog post about that we know how to submit items?
Harry,
Comments, questions, suggestions and “This I Believe” contributions can all be sent to mpress@goshen.edu. We’ll try to make that clear to anyone who arrives at the site. Other content, including blog posts, will be generated by staff.
thanks for your note.
Duane
Excellent work. I am glad to see mPress continuing to be relevant.
Thanks, Larry! We’ll do our best. If you have a chance, stop by Room 311 to say hello.
As a convention goer, I always looked forward to getting a copy of the newsletter “hot off the press!” This year, not being able to attend convention, I’m eagerly looking forward to checking the website. Thanks for keeping us informed even though some of us can’t be there. Your work is important in many ways!
Thanks, Duane and Goshen mPress team, for a great first issue of mPress! At Landis Homes a number of residents are keeping in touch online with the convention via mPress, The Mennonite, Mennonite Weekly Review, and the Digital Delegate streaming video connection. We also value being able to download and print a few copies of the same paper version of the mPress that is handed out at the convention and sharing across the Landis Homes campus for those who wish to pick up the paper version. Do you have a projection as to when the print version will be uploaded each day? Thanks much!

Larry,
Our first PDF of the print version is up on the site now. Typically, we’ll try and have a PDF version by noon each day. Enjoy!
Duane I/we are following each day from Goshen. Excellent job and thank you!
Thanks for following our reporting on mPress, John. We appreciate it!
I am reading and enjoying mPress each day. It helps us at home to feel part of the large group and be a prayer partner, too. The recipe cards today were an interesting idea, though I am not sure about the vegetable shortening in my ice cream!
