Goshen Adventure Comics

Wednesday, April 1st, 2009

Goshen Adventure Comics will be released this Friday, 6pm at Better World Books. Attendees are invited to dress up as their favorite comic book character and a prize will be given for best costume. Contributors will discuss some of the artistic decisions they made while creating their chapter of the book.

The event is a great way to learn more about the graphic novel as an art form. Everyone is invited, from comic book fanatic to peruser of the Sunday funnies.

The release party on Sunday for “Soil and Starlight” was a rousing success. Students, faculty, and community members joined Dan Vader for the reading, book signing, and food.

The remaining books will be on sale in the union for $3.50 at the following times this week:

  • 2:30-4pm Thursday
  • 10:30-11:30pm Friday

Peter Miller

As we drift farther into the Spring semester writers and artists begin to organize special events for their work.

The release party (see picture)  for Peter Miller’s poetry book, Writing Home, was first among many opportunities to enjoy the creativity of our community.

This Friday Hillary Watson invites you to share a poem at the Poetry Slam this Friday at 7pm in NC 17. Entrants will compete for books of poetry. There will be a writing workshop on Tuesday at 7:30 in NC 17 to help you hone your poetry before the Slam. Contact hillaryaw or jbaldanzi if you have questions.

See the lives of GC students translated into picture and text at the release party for Goshen Adventure Comics at Better World Books on April 3rd at 6pm. The book includes the work of students who took the Graphic Novel class taught by Jessica Baldanzi in 2008. Authors will discuss the creative process as they worked with the American art form that is Comics.

The creative arts journal Red Cents will hold a release party on April 7 at 5pm in NC 19. Support the writers, artists, and photographers of GC by attending.
