April 6 – HE HAS BEEN RAISED
THIS WEEK’S THEME: He has been raised
DEVOTIONAL: “He has risen, he has risen indeed!”
Ever since I can remember, my pastors have begun the Easter Sunday sermon with these words. Nonetheless, I remained relatively ignorant of the profound ramifications of Christ’s resurrection until last year. At the beginning of the summer of 2008, God met me at a conference in South Carolina. Amidst an overwhelming series of encounters, God showed me that Jesus’ resurrection was the restoration of a place of fellowship. Thus, we can now abide within and be inhabited by the intimacy of God’s presence.
As part of my involvement in Goshen’s traveling ministry group, Parables, I share of the way God touched me at the conference. I’ve notice an overwhelming amount of skeptical looks when I express that Jesus’ resurrection has made us holy. God is holy and to abide within God’s presence requires our faith in the power of God’s love for us.
I do acknowledge my shortcomings. They are the result of a misconception that says I — by my power — must work as hard as I can to model the life of Christ. Jesus died and rose so that by the power of God we might realize that in Christ we too have risen, we have risen indeed!
I am currently involved in a Torah Study. WE have just finished Exodus and begun Leviticus. The “holiness” of the priests is a key truth emphasized over and over. The scriptues tell us that we through Yeshua we too are now priests able to enter the Holy of Holies. God’s life is in us by the Spirit. What a wonderful pre Easter focus and insight you have shared. Posted by Susan, on April 6th, 2009 at 6:53 amJesus ‘job’ in life was to die on a cross for us! He created a pattern for us as followers of God. A pattern for what? He created a pattern for us so that we might be willing to live in God and be willing to die if we met God and this was required of us. However, our ‘job’ in life is to live for Him and to allow Him to live in us. Have you allowed Him to meet you and show you why you are living today? This is allowing Him to live in us!

We need to keep reminding each other what God gave us when he gave us his son, to “abide within and be inhabited by the intimacy of God’s presence.” Well stated. It doesn’t feel like it much of the time but yes, we we must acknowledge, God made us holy when Jesus said yes to the Father’s will. Thanks be to God for Jesus’ death and resurrection. Thanks for reminding us.
